Research Interest
Dr. Rhona Hanning Research program emphasizes healthy eating and youth. I have developed and evaluated electronic approaches to dietary assessment and applied them in school-based surveillance and as part of mixed methods evaluations of public/ community health program and policy interventions. For example, in collaboration with communities serving First Nations and Métis students and multi-disciplinary research and NGO partners, I am evaluating an initiative to enhance local healthy foods for schools. Other research explores Canadian recreation centre food environments and community-level determinants of maternal child health and nutrition in Africa.
