Research Interest
We are developing enzyme assays using dried blood spots on filter paper to identify lysosomal storage diseases. Blood dot cards can be sent to the diagnostic laboratory at ambient temperature by regular mail. Currently, many of these assays are done on leukocytes that must be isolated the same day blood is drawn. This procedure involves costly overnight shipping and considerable effort in isolating leukocytes for the enzyme assays requested.
