Biography
Ward Weisensel began his career at the CWB in 1991 as a policy advisor. He gained extensive experience in international trade in the position and moved to sales and marketing as a manager in the Asia-Pacific sales area. In 1996, he was promoted to the head of Corporate Policy, where he had responsibility for trade and policy issues affecting the operations of the CWB. He became assistant vice-president, in the Grain Transportation Division in January 1998, and in December 2000, became vice-president, Transportation and Country Operations. He was promoted to executive vice-president of Marketing in June 2003. In February 2004 his title was changed to chief operating officer. In July of 2015, G3 Canada Ltd became the majority shareholder in the CWB. Ward is currently the Senior Vice President of Trading Procurement and Risk with G3 Canada Ltd. Ward was raised in Cudworth, Saskatchewan where his family operated a farm. He received his Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from the University of Saskatchewan. Prior to joining the CWB, he was self-employed as a farmer and as a lecturer and research associate with the University of Saskatchewan.
