Jaime Kaufman

Biography

Jaime Kaufman has a background in microbiology; she completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Saskatchewan and her PhD at the University of Calgary in the Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. Jaime’s graduate work focused on bacterial genetics and high-throughput studies of regulation of gene expression in Salmonella, and was followed by a post-doctoral position in the Department of Gastrointestinal Sciences. Here she looked at changes in the complex microbial communities of the GI tract as they related to treatments associated with various disease conditions. Following her time as a post-doctoral fellow, she became the Program Manager for the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research (now Alberta Innovates-Health Solutions) Interdisciplinary Vaccine Design, Evaluation, and Implementation Cohort 1 Team. Here she was involved with many facets of managing a diverse research team, spanning strategic development of the team, oversight of research milestone, intellectual property development, and general team building and management.
