Biography
Barbara Munroe is the Executive Vice-President, Corporate Services and General Counsel at WestJet. Her responsibilities in the corporate services area covers legal, corporate real estate, environment, fuel, government and industry affairs and regulatory, working closely with WestJet’s senior leadership team and board of directors. As General Counsel she charts the airline’s legal strategy and overall corporate governance program. She joined the WestJet family in November 2011, and is thrilled to be part of such a capable management team and fun-loving company. A graduate of the University of Calgary (where she received both her bachelor of commerce and bachelor of laws degrees), Barbara began her law career with Blake, Cassels and Graydon, LLP in Calgary. After several years of private practice, Barb moved in-house counsel at SMART Technologies. She led the legal group at SMART for eight years, leaving in 2008 in the capacity of senior VP, legal and corporate secretary. Barb then worked with Imperial Oil for several years in the roles of senior counsel and assistant general counsel, upstream. Barbara was elected to the Crescent Point Energy Corp. board of directors in May 2016. Barbara lives in Calgary with her husband and two children. She can often be found enjoying the great outdoors by running or cycling. Spending time with her family, especially in Windermere, is very important, and Barbara also looks for every chance to travel, finding new pieces of art (and the occasional pair of shoes) along the way. Barb’s favourite WestJet destination is Palm Springs.
