Bruce S Bowers

Biography

Bruce Bowers, MD, FACC is the National Director of Interventional Cardiology for the Hospital Corporation of America. HCA is the largest hospital company in the United States. Dr. Bowers oversees the interventional cardiology programs at 130 hospitals across the country. He was appointed to this prestigious leadership position because of his longstanding record of outstanding clinical outcomes in the most high risk patients and his commitment to high quality medicine. Dr. Bowers currently serves as the principal investigator for three Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) clinical trials. He has performed more than 700 minimally invasive valve replacements. He is recognized as a national leader in minimally invasive therapies for the treatment of valvular and structural heart disease. His contributions to the field of structural heart disease have resulted in his appointment to the faculty of several international medical meetings where he shares his experiences with other physicians. Dr. Bowers' research work has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine, The Journal of Thoracic Surgery, The Journal of the American Heart Association and The Journal of Invasive Cardiology. His outstanding clinical skills have placed him in a small group of physicians that are requested to train other physicians in the latest cutting edge cardiovascular procedures. He has served as a consultant and advisor to several companies that develop new cardiac technologies. Dr. Bowers continues to perform coronary stent procedures as well as peripheral vascular procedures. He offers procedures to address congenital heart abnormalities found in adults. In the near future, he will have the ability to provide therapy to patients that cannot take blood thinners that have atrial fibrillation to reduce their risk of stroke. Dr. Bowers also serves as the Medical Director of Invasive and Noninvasive Cardiology at Medical City Dallas Hospital. He is the Cardiology Director of The Dallas Valve Institute. He is the Cardiology Services leader for the North Texas Division of HCA. He has received The Best Doctors in America Award. When he is not attending to medical matters, he enjoys spending time with his family. He has been married for 15 years and has four children ages 12, 10, 9 and 9. He likes to start his day with an early morning run with his Golden-Doodle, Beau. Dr. Bowers has a simple approach to patient care. He treats his patients the way he would want his own family members treated if they were in the same situation. His patients give him the highest ratings and often times refer their friends and family members to him for care.
