Biography
Dr. Smith is currently an Associate Professor at the University College of the Cayman Islands where he is also Director of Research and Publication and Chair of the Social Sciences Department. Dr. Smith is a First Class honours graduate of Church Teacher's College, Jamaica. He won the Jamaica Adult Suffrage Scholarship to pursue Ph.D. in Government between the University of the West Indies (UWI) and the Florida International University. He has lectured at the Northern Caribbean University, Jamaica, and was a tutor in the Department of Government, UWI, Mona. At UCCI, Dr. Smith teaches coursed in Political Science, History Sociology and Research Methodology. A member of Caribbean Studies Association, his research interests include constitutional and public sector reform, and ethics in government. Dr. Smith was recently a Visiting Professor at Carleton University, Canada in the CARICOM scholar leadership programme and also completed in May of 2013 the course in Parliaments and Anti-corruption, offered by the World Bank Institute. He is the Director of the CXC Education Volunteer Programme. Dr. Smith also writes a weekly column for the Cayman Reporter and was the Director of the UCCI International Conference on Ethics, Values and Morality held in March 2014 .
