Gp Russ Chaney

Biography

 GP Russ Chaney joined The IAPMO Group in 1995 as chief executive officer and has worked to further IAPMO’s public health, safety, and environmental mission through the promulgation of the Uniform Plumbing, Uniform Mechanical, Uniform Pool and Spa, and Uniform Solar Energy Codes, all designated as American National Standards. IAPMO works in concert with government and industry to ensure consensus in the ongoing development of codes and standards for water and sanitation applications. The IAPMO Group consists of numerous business units that are focused on providing services to the plumbing, heating, cooling, and solar industries while ensuring water and energy conservation through effective integration of codes, standards, educational, conformity assessment, and personnel certification programs. IAPMO maintains offices and/or laboratories in China, India, Australia, Indonesia and other strategically important countries that have critical water or sanitation needs. As a result, IAPMO has been an active supporter of the World Plumbing Council, an NGO in official relations with the World Health Organization. Having become a member of the World Plumbing Council in 1996, Mr. Chaney has served on the WPC Executive Board (2002-2005), as WPC Deputy Chairman (2008-2011), and has served as WPC Chairman (2011-2013). Mr. Chaney obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Personnel Management and Labor Relations and subsequently achieved an Associate degree in Accounting. While attending university in the late 1970s, Mr. Chaney served a plumbing apprenticeship and ultimately was licensed as a New Jersey Master Plumber in 1982 and achieved licensure as a Plumbing Inspector in 1987. He co-owned and operated a plumbing, heating, and air-conditioning business for twelve years prior to his work in the development and maintenance of US and international model plumbing, mechanical, and solar energy codes. In addition to his service as Chairman of the World Plumbing Council and CEO of The IAPMO Group, Mr. Chaney has served on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and has also served on ANSI’s Finance Committee and Presidential Advisory Committee along with service on numerous ANSI Committees and Board Task Groups. Mr Chaney remains committed to ANSI’s mission and supports the US national standards development and conformity assessment programs.
