Biography
Dr. Kaixian Chen currently serves as Dean of Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine. President of Shanghai Institute of Pharmaceutical Research. He is Director of the Shanghai Pharmaceuticals Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Science. He is an expert of the Key Special Projects under the Tenth Five-year Plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology’s “New Drugs and Modernization of Chinese Medicine”. He has elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Science since 1999. He served as Member of Editorial Board at Chinese Pharmacology Journal, Physical Chemistry Journal, China Pharmaceutical Industry Journal, and Medicinal Chemistry Journal. Dr. Chen is a Member of the State New Drug Research and Development Expert Commission, a Member of the New Drug Research Expert Commission of the Chinese Academy of Science, and a Chief Scientist for the State Key Basic Research Development Plan. He joined Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences in June 1988 and was Head and a Director of the Academic Committee of Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
