Biography

"Dr. Hong established Asymchem Laboratories, Inc. in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, in 1995. From its inception as a kilo-scale custom synthesis manufacturer, Asymchem has grown to a global commercial pharmaceutical CMO, with over thirteen hundred employees worldwide. Asymchem’s rapid early success inspired Dr. Hong to return to China in 1998 to invest and grow the CMO business, resulting in Asymchem's seven R&D and manufacturing companies today spread throughout TEDA Tianjin; Fuxin, Liaoning province; and Dunhua, Jilin province. Since its inception, Dr.Hong has actively directed and monitored the proper establishment and growth of all aspects of Asymchem business to ensure long-term sustainability, from choosing and developing environmentally sound processes, actively investment in proprietary technologies, and investment in quality to ensure compliance in manufacturing. Today, Asymchem is one of the industry’s front-runners, garnering the respect and admiration of peers, clients, and field specialists alike. Asymchem’s phenomenal growth in the past decade and a half is a testament to Dr. Hong's leadership skills, long-term vision, and perseverance. Born in Jilin, Dr. Hong obtained his Ph.D. from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in Beijing in 1987, and finished his post-doctorate training in 1989 from the department of Pharmaceutical and Chemistry at the University of Georgia. Dr. Hong has over 18 publications, including 4 in the Journal of American Chemical Society (JACS) and 4 in the Journal of Organic Chemistry (JOC). He is a visiting professor at Sichuan University, an economic development consultant for the Dunhua municipality, as well as a co-chair of the TEDA Business Association. He is one of the distinguished experts on the Recruitment Program of Global Experts, a member of the Expert Consultation Committee of 863 plan, as well as one of “2012 Top Ten China service outsourcing industry figures
