Biography
Dato’ Low Kian Chuan, male, aged 56, was appointed to the Board in year 2017 as Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of the Bank. He has no family relationship with any director and/or the shareholder of the Bank. Dato’ Low graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada, with Bachelor of Arts (Economics) in year 1983. He completed Advance Diploma in Business Administration in the same university in year 1984. He further obtained the Advance Marketing Strategies certificate of University of California, Berkeley in year 1997. Dato’ Low is currently the Managing Director of Low Fat Group of Companies involving in the integrated wood based activities. He formed his own company to venture into downstream processing and hold posts as Executive Chairman cum CEO of Low Fatt Wood Industries Sdn. Bhd. in year 1986. He then formed a joint venture company, Low Fatt Timber Resources Sdn. Bhd. with German counterparty in producing double glazed window and door and ventured into real property development in year 2006. He also holds the position of Executive Director in Amar Gaya Sdn. Bhd. and Executive Chairman in Maicador Sdn Bhd. Dato’ Low served as Board Member of Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (HRDF) and assigned as the Chairman of HRDF Finance Committee from 2009 to 2017. Dato’ Low was also appointed as Board Member cum Audit Committee Chairman of SME Corporation Malaysia from 2009 to 2015. He is currently the Secretary General of Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (“ACCCIM”) and the Treasurer General of National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malaysia (NCCIM). Dato’s Low was conferred Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (P.J.K.), Terengganu in year 1994, Kesatria Mangku Negara (K.M.N.) in year 1998, Setia Mahkota Terengganu (S.M.T.), Terengganu in year 2002, awarded “Usahawan Tahun 2002” on manufacturing category by Terengganu Government in year 2002, Darjah Dato’ Paduka Mahkota Terengganu (D.P.M.T.), Terengganu in 2007 and Johan Setia Mahkota (J.S.M.) in 2012.
