Educational Background: Ph.D., 1997, majoring in Population Biology at the University of Helsinki, Finland. M.Sc., 1985, majoring in Forest Protection at Central South Forestry University, China. B.Sc., 1982, majoring in non-timber Forestry at Central South Forestry University. Working Experience: â—Dec. 2007 — now, Dean & Professor, School of Nature Conservation, Beijing Forestry Univeristy. Social responsibilities: -- Vice Chairman of National Wetland Science Committee; -- Advisor to the SFA on Forestry Climate Change Adaptation; -- National Secretary of the East Asia-Australasia Migritory Waterbird Flyway Partnership; -- Panel member of national nature reserve evaluation, national wetland park evaluation and national science award; -- Editory board member of international journal of Ecosystem Services, Journal of Nature Resource and Ecology, and Journal of Wetland Science (Chinese). -- China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) Task Force Member, Task Force on Ecosystem Management Strategies (2009-2011). â—Jan. 2003 — July 2007, Senior Advisor for Asia-Pacific, the Ramsar Convention Secretariat (based at Gland, Switzerland). Ramsar Convention is an inter-governmental treaty, to promote conservation and wise use of wetlands world wide My major function are: â—Oct. March 1999 — Dec. 2002, Director of Freshwater & Marine Programme, WWF China Programme Office. Developed Living river concept, including social economic analysis of land use in Yangtze River, combined with ecological and hydrological models. â—Oct. 1998 — Dec. 2002, Professor, Department of Ecology and Environmental Biology, Peking University. Key research project including habitat fragementation and responses of migratory fishes in the Yangtze river, metapopulation dynamics of checkspotts butterflies in northern China. â—July 1997 — Oct. 1998, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Dept. Ecology & Environmental Biology, Peking University on the topic of endangered species conservation, emphasises on habitat management for sustainable development. â—Sept. 1993 - June. 1997, Researcher, Helsinki University. Focus on study the extinction process of endangered species, to explore optimum habitat management strategy. â—Feb. 1993 - Sept. 1993, visiting scholar, Finnish Forest and Park Service. To evaluate Finnish nature conservation system, especially nature reserves and national parks. â—Aug. 1988 - Feb. 1993, Deputy Division Chief for Nature Conservation, the Forestry Department of Hunan Province. Responsible for the supervision of 22 nature reserves agencies in Hunan Province, including: â—June 1985 - July 1988, assistant researcher, Department of Forestry, Central South Forestry University, on the topic of forest protection, population dynamics of Mason pine caterpillars.
