Biography
Xiaojia Zhang is an Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture, who works at School of Landscape Architecture in Beijing Forestry University. She has done researches as Visitor Scholar at Birmingham City University in the UK during 2016 and Tsinghua University in China during 2013~2014. She gives a course of Urban Open Space System Planning for undergraduate students and another course of Landscape Architecture Planning Studio for graduate students. She focuses on training students to obtain planning and design methods, developing students’ capability of critical thinking and encouraging students to apply these methods and thinking into their research and design practices. She has accumulated rich research experience by having participated in a national level research for 5 years and managed several researches of university level in the past 10 years. She is also an experienced practicing landscape architect, who has completed nearly 20 projects in Landscape Architecture Planning and Design Practices,with an interest in applying her research in practice. Her researches, focusing on Landscape Planning, Urban Open Space System Planning, Green Spaces and Sustainability, Theory and History of Landscape Architecture, are professional thinking about what is the relationship between planning and practice, culture and history,sustainability and development.
