Biography
Mrs. Short is a co-founder of BioAtla®, and is head of global intellectual property and business strategy for the company. She is also founder of Capia IP LLC, a company specializing in business and intellectual property strategy for customers in healthcare and clean energy, and cofounder of iPhenotype, a company focused on consumer products and democratizing biology. Mrs. Short was head of the intellectual property group of Diversa Corporation (now BASF) from the company’s inception through it’s IPO and several years thereafter until her departure in 2006. She held roles in sales, business development, marketing and product management at Stratagene Cloning Systems (currently Agilent) prior to Diversa. Mrs. Short has decades of experience in business, intellectual property, and licensing/technology transfer matters in a variety of industries, including healthcare, life science, energy, industrial chemicals, agriculture, foods & flavors, diagnostics, research reagents and cleantech. She holds a degree in Biochemistry & Cell Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and is a registered patent agent with the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
