Gerhard Frey

Biography

Prior to joining BioAtla® in April 2007, Dr. Frey spent 9 years at Diversa Corporation where he held research and project leadership roles and was instrumental in developing molecular evolution technologies for the engineering of enzymes and antibodies. Dr. Frey led the antibody engineering group, which was responsible for all of Diversa’s internal and partnered antibody development programs. Dr. Frey has more than 20 years of experience in protein and antibody engineering, bioinformatics, microbiology, and molecular biology, and is co-inventor on over 30 issued patents. Dr. Frey received his Ph.D. from the University of Regensburg in Germany where he worked with Dr. Michael Thomm and Dr. Karl Stetter studying the molecular biology of Archaea.
