Biography
Dr. Chen has nearly 30 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience managing biologics development and cGMP manufacturing operations including hundreds of successful regulatory submissions and USFDA/EMA site inspections. Products he has worked on include mAbs (including ADC’s and bispecifics), oncolytic viruses, gene cellular therapies, vaccines, biosimilars, phage therapies and regenerative medicines for companies including BMS, J&J, Immunomedics, SAFC, and Phage Biotechnology. He was involved in building BioReliance, one of the world’s leading CMOs, and the fast track commissioning of several cGMP facilities/operations in the US, EU and Asia from clinical to commercial manufacturing. Dr. Chen has a PhD in Microbiology and Bioreaction Engineering of high density cell cultures from Nagoya University, Japan, was a postdoctoral fellow in molecular virology at Yale and UBC, and a faculty member at both the UCLA Schools of Engineering & Microbiology. He is inventor of the IBES BioManufacturing Technology, and has published numerous articles and patents as well as chaired conference sections in Bioprocessing International, CHI PEPTalk, and BioAsia.
