Biography

 Mr. Lo Scalzo joined BioMarin in 2007 and serves as Vice President of Corporate Compliance & Ethics and Corporate Compliance Officer. He is responsible for creating and maintaining the company’s global compliance program and overseeing its internal audit function. His responsibilities include: chairing the Corporate Compliance Committee; overseeing the development and implementation of corporate compliance policies; training employees and partners; scoping and executing internal audits, including audits of third-party vendors; coordinating enterprise risk assessments and analysis; monitoring promotional events and other interactions with healthcare professionals; managing investigations; and implementing corrective actions. Prior to this role, Mr. Lo Scalzo served as BioMarin’s Deputy General Counsel, responsible for a variety of legal and corporate compliance-related matters.  Before joining BioMarin, Mr. Lo Scalzo spent four years at Sanofi-Aventis, where he served as an Assistant General Counsel supporting the organization’s cardiovascular operations team, corporate compliance department, litigation, and human resources groups. Prior to joining Sanofi-Aventis, Mr. Lo Scalzo was an associate attorney in the New York office of Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold, where his practice primarily focused on defending pharmaceutical product liability cases. Mr. Lo Scalzo received a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and a B.A. in History from Boston College.

Research Interest
