Biography
Chao Chen, PhD, is an associate professor in State Key Laboratory of Medical Genetics(SKLMG), Central South University. He is also a member of Conte Center, a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional research institute uniting lead investigators from the University of Chicago, Stanford University, Columbia University and other schools. Dr. Chen was trained in both population genetics (at Fudan University) and bioinformatics (at The University of Chicago). Described by his supervisor Elliot Gershon, former director of psychiatry department at the University of Chicago, “super student… done a lot of bioinformatic and statistical analysis… very self-motivated and doesn’t require a lot of supervision.” Before joining SKLMG, he was a post doctoral associate at University of Illinois at Chicago, research assistant at The University of Chicago, and teaching assistant at Fudan University.
Research Interest
His research focus on integrating diverse data genetic, epigenetic, transcriptomic, proteomic data and etc.) into graphic networks, and analyzing next generation sequencing data for elucidating complex mechanisms of psychiatric disorders.
