James C. Foster

Biography

  Mr. James C. Foster, J.D. serves as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President at Charles River Laboratories, Inc. Mr. Foster has been the President of Charles River Laboratories International, Inc. since 1991 and has been its Chairman since June 2000. Mr. Foster has been the Chief Executive Officer of Charles River Laboratories International, Inc. since 1992. Over the past 28 years at Charles River, he has held a variety of positions including Vice President of Administration and General Counsel, President of Charles River Biotechnical Services and Executive Vice President of Charles River. He serves as the Chairman of Supervisory Board at Charles River Biopharmaceutical Services GmbH. Mr. Foster serves as the Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Entrepreneurial Leadership Program at Tufts University. He serves as a Member of Strategic Advisory Board of Longwood Founders Management, LLC. He has been a Director of Charles River Laboratories International, Inc. since 1989. He serves as a Director of Charles River Laboratories Inc. (CRL). Mr. Foster serves on the board of Titterington's Olde English Bake Shop Ltd., and the Deans Advisory Council, Sloan School of Management, MIT. He served as a Director of BioTransplant Incorporated since February 1992. He is a guest lecturer at MIT, Brandeis University, Northeastern University, Tufts University and The Olin School of Business at Washington University. In October 2002, he was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" by Forbes Magazine. Mr. Foster holds a J.D. from Boston University School of Law; an M.S. degree in Science and Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and a B.A. and B.S. degree in psychology from Lake Forest College.
