Biography
Wende Liu joined the Institute of Plant Protection (IPP), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS, Beijing, China) as an associate professor in 2011. Dr. Liu received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Plant Protection and Plant Pathology at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (Fujian, China) in 2003 and 2008, respectively. Then, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate for three years at Purdue University, one year at Texas A&M University. He has been working on plant-fungal pathogen interaction since his graduated study and published over 10 peer-reviewed journal papers such as PLoS Pathogens, Plant Cell, Mol. Plant, and Mol. Plant-Microbe Interaction.
Research Interest
His research interests include: 1.Molecular mechanism of plant breeding, plant-fungal pathogen interactions. 2.New technology leading to generate disease resistant plants, such as Host-Induced Gene Silencing (HIGS) transgenic rice, marker-free transgenic rice that are highly resistant to rice blast or rice sheath blight.
