Research Interest

Our research group is mainly interested in the development of new wheat germplasm resources by molecular chromosomes engineering; the exploration, fine mapping and cloning of important genes/QTLs for disease resistance and important agronomic traits; and molecular design breeding.          The main objectives focus on: (i) the exploration of important genes/QTLs and their favorable alleles from wheat relatives, landraces, released cultivars and alien germplasm by molecular chromosome engineering, molecular breeding and conventional technology; (ii) the cloning and functional analysis of important genes using genomics and new sequencing methods for further understanding the molecular genetics basis of high yield, disease resistance and efficient uptake and utilization of water and nutrient, and development of molecular markers available for breeding; (iii) the selection of new germplasm resources and cultivars with high-yielding, multi-resistance, high nutrient and water use efficiency that are suitable for main wheat production areas in Chinaby genome-wide molecular marker selection and conventional breeding.
