He Hong

Biography

r. Hong He is a Professor of the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES), Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is the winner of the NSFC “Distinguished Young Scientist”. Dr. He received his doctorate (PhD) from the University of Tokyo in 1994. He studied and worked for 11 years in Japan, the United States and Canada, and thereafter joined RCEES through the “Hundred Talents Program” of the CAS in 2001. His research has mainly focused on fundamental and applied research in environmental catalysis and heterogeneous atmospheric chemistry, and has made numerous and substantial achievements in the areas of diesel emission control technologies, catalytic indoor air purification and the mechanism of haze formation. Dr. He has published 215 papers as the first author or corresponding author in peer- reviewed journals, of which 191 papers are indexed by SCI, with over 5000 citations. He has also published a scholarly book (The Principles and Application of Environmental Catalysis) in Chinese and two chapters in related English books. Thirty three patents have been granted with Dr. He as first author, seven of which have been applied commercially. He won the National Technology Invention Award (Second Prize) in 2011 and the National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Prize) in 2014. He is also the project leader of the National 863 project “Key technologies and system for the emission control of diesel vehicles” and the chief scientist of the Strategic Priority Research Program of CAS (Category B) “Formation mechanism and control strategies of haze in China”. ã€€ã€€   　　As co-chairman, Prof. He presided over the 6th International Conference on Environmental Catalysis and launched a series of China-Japan Workshop on Environmental Catalysis and Eco-materials as founder and organizer, which have continued for 12 years. He has given more than 90 plenary and keynote presentations at international and domestic conferences. He also served as the editor-in-chief of Catalysis Surveys from Asia, and as a member of the editorial board of Scientific Reports, Journal of Environmental Sciences, Journal of Energy Chemistry, and scientific advisory board of Catalysis Letters, Topics in Catalysis and others. ã€€ã€€   　　Under Prof. He’s supervision, thirty three graduate students have obtained their PhD degrees, of which four have received the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award of CAS, and seven have been awarded the Special Prize of the President Scholarship and the Excellence Prize of the President Scholarship of CAS. Meanwhile, Prof. He received the Excellent Graduate Advisor Prize of CAS in 2005, 2006, 2011, 2013, and 2014, and was also named Outstanding Teacher in 2006.
