Biography

Education     2002-2006  Ph.D (IMCAS), Identfication of a novel maleylpyruvate isomerase that needs mycothiol as cofactor and links mycothiol biosynthesis and gentisate assimilation in Corynebacterium glutamicum. Professional Experience     2009-Present   Principal Investigator, Associate Professor, Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS)     2006-2009   Postdoc at Infectious Disease Research Center, University, Canada, Genome sequencing and proteomic and transcriptomic analysis revealed novel mechanism of linezolid resistance in Streptococcus pneumonia, supported by CIHR grant

Research Interest

Our group is committed to investigating the novel acquired and intrinsic resistance genes in bacterial pathogens, as well as in environmental bacteria. We are also trying to explore the mobility of novel mobile elements, to uncover the mechanism of dissemination of resistance genes. We believe that our studies will substantially contribute to understanding of the evolution and epidemiology of resistance. The researches in our group are currently focused on the development of resistance, including: 1) Acquired resistance, we identified a number of novel acquired resistance genes and mobile elements unraveling the way that bacteria develop resistance; 2)Intrinsic resistance, we characterize the novel intrinsic resistance genes in Bacillus and Acinetobacter, and demonstrated that the intrinsic resistance genes can be the origin of acquired resistance genes. 3) Diagnosis of phenotype and genotype of resistant bacteria
