Biography

Professor SUN Yingli obtained her Ph.D degree in cell and molecular biology from Peking University, Beijing, P.R. China, in 2000. Between 2000 and 2002, she joined Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, U.S to do her postdoctoral research and then worked as Assistant Professor in Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, U.S from 2002-2010. By 2010, she was selected as 100 Talents Program Scholar and honored the Second “SCOPUS” for Youth Science star" Growth Award, Chinese Academy of Sciences Youth Federation and the Communist Youth League (Second place in national life sciences field). Professor SUN has won many awards, including Excellent Doctoral Dissertations, Peking University (First Prize) in 2000, National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations in 2002, Natural Science Award, Ministry of Education (First Prize, Key personnel) in 2005, Scholar in Training Award of AACR, Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA, T32) of NIH from 2006 to 2008 and Chinese Life Science Annual Distinguished Research Award of Harvard University in 2010.

Research Interest

The Cancer and Epigenetic Group in Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences was established in 2010. The group has undertaken many proteomic studies from 973 project, National Natural Science Foundation and CAS Grant. Grant. Now, this group focused on the following four areas: 1) Genomic stabilities of cancer cells and stem cells. 2) Epigenetic modification patterns of prostate cancer and breast cancer. 3) Epigenetic regulation of cancer and stem cells and the regulating mechanism. 4) Drug design and screening targeted to cancer or cancer stem cells. Over the past several years, she and her laboratory have made breakthrough in genomic stability and epigenetic regulation research. She also made great contribution and did excellent research work in epigenetic regulation study of cancer and stem cells. Professor Sun has published about 25 scientific papers in high impact journals such as Oncotarget, Cell Research, NCB, JCB, MCB, PNAS.
