Biography
Prof. Baoping Yan graduated and got her bachelor, master and doctor degrees from Xian Jiaotong University and Institute of Computing Technology (ICT) of the CAS, and accomplished her postdoctoral research in ICT of the CAS. Prof. Baoping Yan served as Vice President of Dawning Company of the CAS from 1994 to 1997, and Director General of Computer Network Information Center (CNIC) and Director of Office of Informatization Leading Group of the CAS from 1997 to 2006. From 2006, Prof. Baoping Yan served as the Chief Engineer of CNIC and Director of Informatization Expert Committee of the CAS. She has also served as Standing Deputy Director of Expert Committee of CAS Scientific Database, Vice President of China Internet Society and China Computer Federation and the Standing Trustee of China Computer User Association and Trustee-General of Beijing Computer User Association. She is Member of the National Technology & Science Infrastructure Expert Committee of Ministry of Science & Technology of China, China’s Next-Generation Internet Expert Committee of National Development and Reform Commission, and Member of Tibet Development and Advisory Committee and the supervisor of Information Group. Prof. Baoping Yan is Trustee of Chinese ISOC Council, AC Member of W3C Committee, and Member of International Council for Science (ICSU), World Data Scientific Committee (WDS-SC). Dr. Yan Baoping has published over 70 research papers at home and abroad, and advised more than 74 Master and Ph.D. graduates. She has in-depth research and understanding of the application and supporting technologies of large-scale scientific database. The government has granted her special allowance for her outstanding contributions.
Research Interest
Dr. Yan Baoping has long been engaged in the R&D and construction of computer network system engineering, large-scale scientific database technology and application. She has completed analysis and design of computer network system, research and implementation of industrial automation and CIMS network technology, ATM-based workstation cluster system, standard management of large-scale network and system integration, Internet/Intranet comprehensive information management system, etc. She has undertaken technology planning and consulting of several major network engineering and informatization projects at national, sector or regional level and achieved remarkable economic efficiency. In recent years, she has been in charge of several "863" projects such as the "Network management and information security system" and "Construction of large -scale scientific database in high-performance computing environment". On behalf of CAS, she has been charged with overseeing research on the Internet 2 for the project "NSFCNet", a key project of the Natural Science Foundation of China. In addition, she has been responsible for the planning and construction of the informatization of the Chinese Academy of Sciences during the 10th Five -year Plan period.
