Research Interest

The pro-inflammatory cytokine-mediated stroma cell interactions exert both beneficial and adverse effects on tumor progression. The finding of key regulatory molecules and understanding of corresponding mechanisms help to develop novel strategies for tackling cancer by modifying stroma cell interactions. - Non-hematopoietic cells are important immune effector cells. Our results showed that responsiveness of stroma fibroblasts to IFNg blocks tumor growth via angiostasis, which reveals a novel link between immune cells and non-bone marrow-derived stroma cells, and de?nes stroma ?broblasts as the main targets of IFNg in tumor immunity. - Stroma fibroblast-mediated foreign body reaction acts as an important way to prevent tumorigenesis. The depletion of fibroblasts demonstrated that fibroblasts play an indispensable role in preventing epithelial malignancy by the collagen deposition around carcinogen and provide a novel mechanism for host surveillance against cancer. - Tumor stroma cell interactions influence tumor development. Our results demonstrate that tumor stroma is not only bystanders during tumor development. The interaction between different pro-inflammatory cytokines and between cytokines and stromal cells could promote or inhibit tumor development. It is of great important to understand these interactions and make use of it to attack tumor.
