Biography
Prof. Hou is currently Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chairman of the Board of Beijing Tri-Prime Gene Engineering Co, Ltd.Born in 1929, Hou Yunde is a researcher at the Institute of Virology at the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine. He received his BM from the Medical Institute of Tongji University in 1955. From 1958 to 1962, he studied at the Institute of Virology at the Russian Academy of Medical Science and graduated with a PhD in medicine. He has been a researcher at the Institute of Virology of the Chinese Academy of Medical Science, and Director of the Anti-Virus Treatment Research Centre. The Chief Scientist for three consecutive terms in the national level "863" development plan in the bio-tech field, he has published over 200 articles in academic journals and 6 books.
