Biography

Research Interest

In China, we first proposed and used the gene expression pathway to study the relationship between crop heterosis and gene expression and regulation, and discussed the mechanism of crop heterosis from the molecular level. In recent years, combining classical genetics with genomics, the genes controlling yield traits were isolated and cloned through the construction of near-isogenic lines of heterosis, and the formation of crop heterosis was elucidated from the perspective of the composition and evolution of genomic haplotype The basis of molecular genetics, has made important progress. The research paper, published in Genome Research, an international publication of genomics, reveals for the first time the molecular mechanism of dominant and overexpression of the hybrid rice parental genes from the genomic haplotype structure and variation levels. In addition, important breakthroughs have also been made in the study of gene regulation of cell size, and a conserved RNA binding domain (RRM) was found to control the size of monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous cells. Over-expression of this RRM domain can increase the seed volume of crops such as rice, cotton, rapeseed, etc., increase grain yield and improve cotton fiber quality.
