Biography
Fang Pingping, associate professor, Ph.D., Master Instructor, scientist of National industrial technology system of bast fiber crops. Director of Fujian Provincial Innovation Platform on Germplasm of bast fiber crops; The evaluation expert of National Natural Science Foundation; Member of Fujian Crop Variety Approval Committee. Phd. Fang has chaired or participated in 8 national projects and 10 provincial programs since 2005, such as National Natural Science Foundation, National 863 Plan, State Science and Technology Support Program, et al. As a major role, Dr. Fang has engaged in breeding 17 kenaf new varieties (among which 7 Kenaf varieties were national approvals) and 3 Kenaf CMS lines successfully, and have more than 30 articles and 6 monographs been published. In 2005 and 2009, Fang won the awards of first prize and third prize of Fujian Provincial Science and Technology, respectively. Meanwhile, he was granted “second prize of Fujian Provincial Teaching Achievement Award” for 2 times in 2005 and 2009, and was qualified as New Century Excellent Talents in Fujian Universities in 2007. During 2009/6-2010/6, Dr. Fang was selected as 100 senior agricultural experts and sent to Benin in West Africa for agricultural technique aid by China Commerce Ministry and Agriculture Ministry, his excellent works was highly appreciated by the Agriculture Ministry of Benin and China.
