Biography

Zhang Zhongyi, born in March 1963 in Wen County of Henan Province, is a Doctor, Professor, Ph.D. supervisor and Minjiang River Scholar Distinguished Professor. Dr. Zhang received his bachelor's degree in agronomy and master’s degree in crop cultivation and farming from Henan Agricultural University in 1984 and 1989 respectively. In June 2004, he moved on China Pharmaceutical University to get his Ph.D. in Pharmacognosy. Dr. Zhang currently served as the director for GAP Institute of herbal medicines of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, and vice director for the Society of Natural Medicinal Resources. He is also a member of International Allelopathy Society. Prof. Zhang take the main responsibility for teaching the course such as Cultivation of medicinal plants, GAP Management and Technology for Chinese herbal medicines, Advances in medicine resource ecology to the undergraduate. The major focus in Zhang research group is to study Chinese medicinal materials resource ecology, the quality cultivation theory and technology of the medical plants and the tobacco. The research group seeks to understand the physiological and ecological mechanisms that controlled quality formation of the medical plants and the finest tobacco leaves through integrating a set of technology. Based on that, research group try to build a sustainable production technology system that will lay a solid foundation for the agriculture safety production. Zhang research group have undertaken more than 10 research projects over the past five years, which were closely related to the traditional Chinese medicine resources areas including ‘the Research Fund for the Doctoral Program of Higher Education’, ‘the National Natural Science Foundation of China’, ‘the National Science & Technology Pillar Program’, etc.
