Biography
Dr. Chow Yiu Fai received his Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. His research fields include diaspora, gender, multiculturalism, cultural studies, critical theories, mass communications, transnationalism, and popular music. His recent publications include “Hope against hopes: Diana Zhu and the transnational politics of Chinese popular music” in Cultural Studies; “Blowing in the China Wind: Engagements with Chineseness in Hong Kong’s zhongguofeng music videos” in Visual Anthropology; “Moving, sensing intersectionality: A case study of Miss China Europe” in Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society. His co-authored book Sonic Multiciplicities: Hong Kong Pop and the Global Circulation of Sound and Image appears in 2012. Next to his academic work, Dr. Chow writes Chinese song lyrics and other forms of creative writing. His recent prose publications include《å‡å¦‚æˆ‘å€‘ç”šéº¼éƒ½ä¸æ€•》(The Phobia Book);《7749: å››åä¹å€‹æˆ‘試éŽï¼è½éŽï¼æƒ³éŽçš„創æ„練習》 (7749: Forty-nine Exercises on Everyday Creativity); and《çªç„¶å年便éŽåŽ»ã€‹(Suddenly, Decades Ago).
