Biography
Dr. Zhang’s primary responsibility is product evaluation, in-licensing and development. He has broad experience in the areas of novel therapeutics, diagnostics and personalized medicine. Dr. Zhang has more than 30 years of R&D experience in the biological sciences and pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining HUYA Bioscience International, Dr. Zhang served at Tanabe Research Laboratories of Mitsubishi-Tanabe Pharma, where he played various leading roles in new technology acquisition, project management, biomarker and drug discovery for cancer, inflammation and metabolic diseases. He also served multiple advisory roles, including at MediciNova for product evaluation, due diligence and in-licensing. Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D in Biochemistry from the Salk Institute and University of California at San Diego and completed his postdoctoral training at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Previously, he was an Assistant Fellow at the Institute of Genetics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also holds MS in Genetics from the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Sciences and BS in Biology from Beijing Normal University.
