Biography

Sheng Huang graduated from DB research group in CS department Fudan University (one of best db research groups in China) in 2007 and then joined IBM research - China. He worked on software engineering (2007-2010), leading the optimized regression test selection (ORTS) project, with 1M$ impact in Pangoo-Sky cloud solution as a sub-project. In ORTS, Sheng Huang proposed the first regression test selection technique in J2EE application environment. In 2010, CRL Smarter Meeting Room (SMR) project http://bluenotes.rtp.raleigh.ibm.com/biztech/projects.nsf/lProject/11-BIZ-16 leaded by Sheng Huang selected as the only winner from IBM China (out of totally 165 submissions from IBM WW) for its special “Make IBM Smarter” program. This successfully innovation by SMR was reported as Top W3C Top Story in March, 2012. Since 2010, Sheng Huang focused on database related projects in CRL, and now the leader of "real time database for internet of things" project which is an extension on IBM Informix to support massive "write" workload as well as complex time series data query against sensor data in smarter planet/IoT domain. His current research interests are in data management area, including real time data management and big data/No-SQL database. He published 10+ papers in the field of web search, data management, web service, software engineering mining, including Pic-Top conference papers like VLDB, SIGMOD, MIDDLEWARE, OOPSLA, WWW, ICSE, ICWS, etc and Journal Papers like JWSR, JCST.
