Biography
Junchao HUANG, completed his Ph.D. at the University of Hong Kong in 2000 and received postdoctoral training in Biotechnology at the same university. Huang joined Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2011 as a professor, Group Leader of Algal and Plant Biotechnology Group. He has published more than 30 research papers on leading scientific journals. His group is now focusing on metabolic engineering of green microalgae and crop plants with the aim to improve the oil or carotenoid contents. His research interests are Microalgae as feedstock for biodiesel, Metabolic engineering of higher plants for astaxanthin production, The biosynthesis and regulation of astaxanthin in green microalgae, Isolation and characterization of genes encoding enzymes for carotenoid and fatty acid biosynthesis.
