Biography

WU Peiheng is an expert in superconductor electronics and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (academician). Born in 1939 in Shanghai, he graduated from University of Nanjing in 1961, majoring in physics. At present, he is a professor at University of Nanjing and the Director of the Research Institute of Superconductor Electronics (RISE) attached to the University; he is also the Vice-chairman of the Information Science and Technology Division of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chairman of the Chinese Institute of Superconductor Electronics.

Research Interest

Prof. Wu is noted for his various achievements in high frequency (from microwave to terahertz wavebands) applications of superconducting electronic devices. He has explored the fundamental laws governing relevant physical processes, developed new superconducting electronic devices, and promoted their practical applications. Among the subjects, to which he has made important contributions, are tunneling processes in high-temperature superconductors; preparation, characterization and high frequency applications of various low- or high-temperature superconducting junctions; superconducting frequency mixers and their applications to highly sensitive detectors, frequency metrology, and high frequency signal sources of high precision; and preparation, processing, characterization and optimization of high-temperature superconducting thin films.
