Cadol Cheung

Biography

Mr. Cheung is a Managing Partner for The Beijing Semiconductor Fund (“BJ Semi Fund”). It is one of the first semiconductor-focused PE funds in China. Established in June 2014 and with RMB 4 billion raised, the Fund actively invests in companies along the value chain of semiconductor industry, including IC design, manufacturing, packaging and testing, materials, and equipment. Mr. Cheung has over 33 years direct experience in the integrated circuit sector, with knowledge around leading technologies and industry environment. He was responsible for the management of Intel Asia-Pacific region and led various operation departments over 16 years. His experience covers technology development, production management, Information Technology, marketing, business planning, customer service, and business development. Mr. Cheung is the only Chinese co-Managing Director at Intel Capital in Asia Pacific, he was directly responsible for projects in Greater China & North Asia. 34 companies in his investment portfolio have successfully been listed worldwide, such as BCD Semiconductor, Sinosun, Montage Technology, Neusoft Group, A8 Music, Kingsoft, Techfaith Wireless, hiSoft, Chinacache, and TRONY solar; plus over 15 companies been sold/merged with other enterprises. Mr. Cheung was awarded Top 50 Venture Capitalist in China for 4 consecutive years, and “the most active green venture capital enterprises” in 2008 and “Best Venture Capital institutions” in 2009. He holds a BSc of Engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, an MBA from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, is a member of the Institution of Engineers of the UK and a Mentor in AAMA cradle program.
