Biography
Dr. Kai Chen is the Founding Managing Partner of SK Telecom (China) Ventures with primary focus on early- to growth-stage equity investments in Greater China markets. His areas of interest include Internet, mobile, telecommunication, clean technology, semiconductor, and health care. Prior to SKT Ventures, Kai was a partner at Cybernaut (China) Investment managing and supporting the investment activities of Cybernaut Growth Fund and several Cybernaut RMB funds. He was also a founding managing partner of China Century Fund. Prior to Cybernaut, Kai worked with Stanford Center for Professional Development to develop and teach in many executive programs working with various central government agencies, municipal governments, and leading organizations in China. He had taught 1,000+ government officials, senior executives, and entrepreneurs across a wide array of industries. At Stanford, Kai also worked at GM/Stanford Collaborative Laboratory. He led several sponsored research and consulting projects with GM, HP, OnStar, and Capital Airports Holdings, China Mobile, and many Internet startup companies in both US and China. Earlier in his career, Kai was a co-founder and vice president of Arbor Technology. Kai was a guest lecturer on PE/VC at Stanford University, Zhejiang University, China University of Political Science and Law. He was a senior advisor of Zhejiang University Innovation Institute helping its global technology sourcing, business incubation, and strategic partnership. He was also an advisor for Stanford Center for Professional Development, and was an advisor to China Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of Ministry of Commerce. Kai holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics and Finance from Stanford University, a M.S. degree in Financial Engineering from Poly Institute of NYU, and a B.S. degree in Electronics and Information Systems from Nanjing University.
