Biography

Wang Chao, Shandong Rongcheng City. Professor of Plant Pathology. Cheung Kong Scholar Distinguished Professor ( 2011 ), National Outstanding Youth Fund winner ( 2012 ). He graduated from Nanjing Agricultural University in July 1996 with Ph.D. degree and from 1996 to 1999 engaged in postdoctoral research at Zhejiang University Institute of Biotechnology. He is currently the executive member of OMGN , director of the Oomycetes Disease Committee of the Chinese Society of Plant Pathology, and director of the National Soybean Industry Technology Pest Management Research Laboratory. PLoS Pathogens , MPMI , MPP and other 9 kinds of academic editorial board. 5 times as chairman of the international academic conference, MPMI and other international conferences and Cornell University, Oregon State University and Wageningen University and other famous academic institutions at home and abroad invited more than 30 reports . Corresponding author to Science , Plant the Cell , Nature Communications , Current Biology and PLoS Pathogens published papers and other 130 articles. Access to education natural science prize, the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award 1 items, etc. provincial awards 5 items. Long-term engaged in crop disease disaster mechanism and disease control of new technology research. The main academic achievements: ( 1 ) identified a new class of Phytophthora extracellular effector XEG1 , found its molecular mechanism of extracellular and plant protein inhibitors interoperability proposed pathogen attack host " decoy mode " ( Science, 2017 ). ( 2 ) A new strategy for identification of non-toxic gene of Oomycetes was established. Eight new non-toxic genes of Phytophthora sojae were identified and their variation patterns in Chinese population were analyzed. The molecular mechanism of phytotoxicity variation was elucidated systematically ; ( 3 ) It was found that the RxLR effectors of Phytophthora infestans could cooperate with each other to simulate the plant disease-resistant suppressor and use the plant protein conformation processing system to regulate plant endoplasmic reticulum stress and interfere with plant histone acetylation to interfere with plant disease resistance ( 4 ) It was found that Phytophthora sojae could identify the host plant by the regulation of G protein signaling system on the isoflavones of soybean root exudates, and clarified the molecular mechanism of Phytophthora infestans recognition to the host; ( 5 ) A number of new Rapid detection of pathogens molecular targets, the establishment of more than 10 kinds of rapid detection of pathogens, the formation of a number of national and industry standards, and get Pan application.

Research Interest
