Biography
Prof. Zhao’s research has been started since the spring of 2004, when he came back from Oxford University appointed as a full-professor in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. In the same year, he has founded Laboratory of Molecular Electronics, focusing on the theoretical and experimental investigation on a) electron transfer through a functional molecule, b) theoretical simulation of nano-fabrication for Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems and Nano-Electro-Mechanical Systems, and c) biomolecular electron transfer.  Prof. Zhao’s group is distinct to make afford to combine chemistry calculation with experimental measurements. His group uses ab-initio methods and density function theory to model the molecular device. On the basis of non-equilibrium Green’s functional method, they also simulate the transportaion behavior of the device, which is experimentally characterized by surface electrochemistry, nano-junction technique, and scanning probe microscopy. In addition, his group is developing a software of ultra-large scale molecular dynamics for simulating the nano-fabrication and other nano-scale mechanical process.Â
