Biography

Prof. Lixin Wu, received his B.S. degree in Survey Engineering from China University of Mining & Technology (CUMT) in 1988, M.S. degree in Geomatics from CUMT-Beijing in 1991; and Ph.D. degree in Geomatics from CUMT-Beijing in 1997. His research interests include hazard remote sensing & disaster surveying, spatial information theory & methodology, and digital mine & digital city. He is the winner of Changjiang Scholar Awards and the National Outstanding Youth Funds of China. Currently, he is Director of Institute of Geo-information & Digital Mine, Northeastern University, and the Chief Professor of School of Environment Science and Spatial Informatics, China University of Mining &Technology; He and his group have devoted over 20 years in geo-hazard remote sensing, especially in earthquake anomaly analysis based on GEOSS currently. One of his typical contributions is the multiple-parameter analysis method and DTS criteria for earthquake anomaly recognition, which is published in the Proceeding of IEEE, 2012, as an invited paper. He has charged the key project of China National Disaster Rapid Assessment Software System Development, and the developed system is now running in the China National Center for Disaster Reduction. Also, he is the former co-chair of the Commission on User Application of Remote Sensing of IEEE Geoscience & Remote Sensing Society (GRSS), and active member of the Group on Earth Observation (GEO), the liaison of IEEE GRSS and GEO, a routine commissioner of China Association of Remote Sensing Application(CARSA), a routine commissioner of China Association of GIS (CAGIS), the vice chairman of the Committee on GIS Theory & Methodology of CAGIS, the vice chairman of the Committee on Mining Surveying of Chinese Society of Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography (CSGPC), the vice chairman of the Committee on Space-based Observation on Earth of China Seismology Society (CSS), and the vice editor-in-chief of Journal Geography And Geo-information Science (JGAGIS).
