Biography

Mr. Ross M. McEwan is Chief Executive Officer at The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc and National Westminster Bank Plc. He is on the Board of Directors at Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc. Between August 2012 and September 2013, Mr. McEwan was Chief Executive Officer for UK Retail, joining from Commonwealth Bank of Australia where he was Group Executive for Retail Banking Services for over 5 years. Prior to this, he was Executive General Manager responsible for the branch network, contact centers and third party mortgage brokers. Mr. Ross McEwan has worked in the finance, insurance and investment industries for over 25 years. He has management experience, having spent over 18 years in senior executive roles including Managing Director of stock broking business of First NZ Capital Securities, Chief Executive of National Mutual Life Association of Australasia Ltd/AXA New Zealand Ltd. and AMP New Zealand Holdings Ltd., and Head of Retail Banking & Marketing of ASB Group. Mr. McEwan holds a Bachelor of Business Studies, majoring in Industrial Relations & Personnel Management and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.
