Biography

ZHOU Bin is a Professor Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, China. Research Areas: Lineage tracing, cell plasticity; stem cell; cardiovascular development and regeneration.

Research Interest

The developmental origin and cell fate of stem cell in organ development, diseases and tissue regeneration are fundamental questions in biology and medicine. Unraveling the cell lineage and their fate determination during development and regeneration provides valuable information to the cellular and molecular basis of regenerative medicine and diseases. For cell lineage, fate mapping and gene function study, the current genetic tools based on Cre-loxP have bottlenecks that need to be solved or improved. The major goal of my lab is to establish new genetic manipulation technologies that precisely targets cell populations in vivo. We take advantage of different recombination systems and generate new systems that allow us to address the cell lineage and fate in diseases and regeneration. Our long-term goal is to develop more powerful genetic tools and apply them to the fields of developmental biology, stem cell and regeneration, improving our understanding of cell fate plasticity and their regulation mechanisms.
