Jianzhong Zhang

Biography

Jianzhong Zhang received the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in applied geophysics and information technology from Chengdu University of Technology, China, in 1985, 1988, and 2001, respectively. He worked on geophysical signal processing as an engineer (1988-1996) and a senior engineer (1996-1998) at the Second Integrated Geophysical Exploration Team, Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources of the PRC. In 2001-2010, he was with the School of Information Science and Technology, Xiamen University, where he was an associate professor (2001-2002) and a professor (2002-2010) of signal and information processing. In 2002-2004, He was a post-doctor in the Geophysical Research Institute of Shengli Oilfield, Sinopec. He was a visiting scholar in the Department of Geography of the University of Hull, Hull, U.K., in 2007. He was a senior research associate in the Department of Geosciences at Texas Tech university, USA, in 2008-2010. Since November 2010, he has been with the College of Geosciences, Ocean University of China, Qingdao, China, where he currently a professor of applied geophysics. Prof. Zhang has completed several projects funded by NSFC, 863 Program, departments of science and technology of some provinces, and enterprises and institutions, published over 80 papers injournals and conference proceedings. He received the First-class Award of Progress in Science and Technology from the Government of Xinjiang Autonomous Region of China in 1993, the Excellent doctoral dissertations nationwide nominated by China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center in 2003, and “Bai-qian-wantalent engineering” Scientist granted by the Government of Fujian province, China, in 2008.

Research Interest

His research interests include computational seismics, electromagnetics and gravity, geophysical tomography, seismic inversion, geophysical data processing and analysis, and their applications in oil and mineral explorations.
