Biography
Dr. Zhang obtained his B.S. in Chemistry at Peking University and Ph.D. in Chemistry at the Princeton University. He conducted postdoctoral work at the University of California, San Francisco before starting his independent position in the Chemistry Department at the University of Southern California. Dr. Zhang is a Distinguished Adjunct Professor in the iHuman Institute at ShanghaiTech University.
Research Interest
The Zhang lab is interested in developing small-molecule modulators of signaling proteins such as G-protein coupled receptors and protein kinases. Our work spans multiple disciplines, including synthetic organic chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology and drug design. Ultimately, we hope our work can facilitate the development of improved therapeutics for the treatment of human diseases such as cancer, diabetes, neurodegeneration and cardiovascular disorders.
