Biography
Federico Sor is a Global Perspectives on Society Teaching Fellow at NYU Shanghai. Prior to joining NYU Shanghai, he was a global history instructor at NYU in New York City. He holds a PhD in History from NYU, an M.A. in Political Science from the New School for Social Research in New York, and a B.A. in History from the University of Maryland. Professor Sor’s research interests are Cold War Latin America, nationalism, and comparative revolution and counterrevolution. His dissertation, “The Pedagogy of Revolution and Counterrevolution in Argentina, 1966-1983,” analyzes the uses of education to disseminate ideologies and promote specific political projects. His work has appeared in the Revista Contemporánea de Historia published by the University of Uruguay. Professor Sor is a member of the American Historical Society and the Latin American Studies Association. He was the recipient of a Mellon Dissertation Fellowship, an Elaine Brody Research Fellowship, and other research fellowships and scholarships.
