Biography
Jiwon Shin is an IMA Associate Fellow at NYU Shanghai. She is a recent graduate from NYU Abu Dhabi, and holds a BA in Computer Science and Visual Arts from NYU Abu Dhabi. Jiwon’s research interests are developing effective user-experience for web interfaces and combining digital and analog communications. Jiwon’s past work consists of public sculptures projections and pieces involving digital appropriations. In her recent works, she utilizes computer programming in environments such as web, Processing and Arduino Outside of producing artworks, she is also interested in conservation of software-based artworks and have interned at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Rhizome between years 2014 and 2015. Her most recent video piece, The End is Near/Here (2015), was exhibited at Sharjah Art Museum as part of Emirates Fine Arts Society’s annual showcase and Wall || Window (2016) was finalisted for The Christo and Jeanne-Claude Award 2016.
