Biography
Dr. Xiaohua Zhao is now a Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering, Shantou University. He used to study at both Southeast University and Tongji University, and received his Ph.D in the field of structural engineering in 1999. During the year 2000 and 2001, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Engineering Mechanics and Design Laboratory of the University of Toronto. His research interests lie in the area of smart materials and structures, health monitoring of structures, dynamic fracture mechanics, earthquake engineering and structural dynamics. He has finished 23 research projects and the design of more than twenty building structures. He authored or co-authored 55 papers in refereed journals including Science in China, International Journal of Solids and Structures, Carbon, Cement and Concrete Research. He was awarded “the Excellent Teacher of Shantou City” in 1996 and “the Excellent Teacher of Guangdong Province” in 2004, respectively.
