Biography
Hu Yueming born in the county of Jixi in Anhui province, professor Hu got his Bachelor's degree in 1982, Master's degree in 1985 and doctor's degree in June 1991 respectively. Since 1991, he has been working in College of Automation Science and Engineering of SCUT. He also held the research fellow position in Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic University for 3 years. In 1993, he was appointed as vice professor, in 1996 as professor and in 1998 as doctor supervisor. Now he is Dean of Engineering Research Center of Precision Electronic Manufacturing Equipments, Ministry of Education, P.R.China, He is also the Editor-in-chief of "Control Theory and Application", member of China Automation Association, member of the Guan Zhaozhi Prize Committee of China Automation Association. Professor Hu has taken charge of and accomplished over 30 projects supported by National High-tech Research and Development Program (863 Program), National Natural Science Foundation, Excellent Teacher Foundation of Ministry of Education, Guangdong Innovative Technology program of Key Equipment, etc. He has published over 100 journal papers such as Automatica, IEEE Trans. on Automatic Control, Int.J.Robotics and Automation, Acta Automatica Sinica, Control Theory and Application. He is also the author of three books "Theory and Application of Variable Structure Control"(published by Science Press in January 2003), "Theory and Application of Nonlinear Control Systems"(published by National Defence Industry Press in January 2002) and "Variable Structure Control Systems with Distributed Parameters"(published by National Defence Industry Press in February 1996). Professor Hu has finished the research works of some advanced equipments such as automatic surface mounting devices with 8, 4 or 2 mounting head, automatic die bonding machine for IC packaging, automatic intelligent peritoneal dialysis system for the treatment of renal failure, automatic garment layout optimizing and cutting system for garment production, nationalized carriage air conditioning control system of Guangzhou Metro. Due to his research into the key technology of surface mounting devices, chip bounder, dialysis system and automatic optical measuring system, 9 patents for invention or utility model of the above areas have been patented or accepted. Now Professor Hu is devoting the basic research and development of automatic high-tech electronic manufacturing equipments based on computer vision and intelligent motion control.
