Biography
Huang Daoping earned in 1982 his bachelor’s degree in chemical automation and instrument, in 1986 his master’s degree in automatic control theory and application, and in 1998 his doctor’s degree in automatic control theory and application in the South China University of Technology (SCUT). From 1995 to 1996 he spent one year at the University of Gent, Belgium, as a government-sponsored visiting scholar. In 1982, he started his teaching and research career at the automation department of SCUT. Now as a professor and the vice-dean of the Automation Science and Engineering College, he has authored three academic books and had over 150 reseach papers published in various journals. His research interests cover intelligent detection and control, soft-sensing technology, as well as fault diagnosis and accident prediction of industrial process. Professor Huang now serves as the vice-director of the Education Committee under the China Automation Association. He is also a member of both the Process Control Committee and the Application Committee under the China Automation Association. He has directed over ten research projects, some of which were from the National High Technology Research and Development Program (the 863 Program) and from the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Bureau. He was granted in 1992 the third prize by the National Education Committee and in 2005 the second prize by the Guangdong Provincial Government for his contributions to science and technology.
