Biography
Prof. Yuan is devoted into soundscape theoretical research. She, for the first time, uses inter-disciplinary approaches to sort out the basic theory and technical logic of soundscape in Chinese classical garden, establishes its preliminary research framework, and gathers the technical rules of soundscape construction in Chinese classical garden. Her recent research interests include the theory and practice on protection of soundscape resources in Chinese classical garden, urban sound environment planning based on soundscape theory, Western landscape design theory with Chinese comparisons. Besides, as a key member, Prof. Yuan has participated in many research items on teaching and scientific study at national, provincial and local level. Her important honors include the second prize of “National Teaching Achievement Award” in 2005, the third prize of the 10th “Guangdong Natural Science Distinguished Paper” etc. Currently, Prof. Yuan takes charge of National Natural Science Foundation No. 50878085 Item, the research of ON Soundscape in Chinese Classical Garden. Meanwhile, more than 20 academic papers have been published in periodicals at national level, including Architectural Journal.
